The Process
Recording, mixing and mastering — what to expect at every stage.
Recording
Recording servicesBook the studio, then book me.
The room and its booking fee are yours to arrange; my fee is handled through EngineEars.
A video call before the date.
We set the goals for the session: the songs, the lineup, and how you want the day to run.
Prepare the session the night before.
Equipment is set up before the day so the session starts on sound, not patching.
We cut it, then the files are released.
The files are ready the same day the session ends; completing payment on EngineEars releases the session files and rough mixes, named to your spec.
Mixing
Mixing servicesSend the session, then we talk.
Multitracks, a rough mix and a reference or two, through EngineEars. Payment happens in the same place, and I'll set up a short video call before I start.
The first version, in one to three days — sooner on request.
Approve it and skip to delivery, or send notes.
Three rounds, each one back for approval.
Every note is addressed before the next version goes up.
Approve, and the files unlock.
Main mix, instrumental, stems, and any alt mixes such as a TV mix or radio edit.
Mastering
Mastering servicesYour final mix, and the records you measured it against.
24-bit at session sample rate. Tell me the release format when you send it.
The first master, in one to three days — sooner on request.
If something in the mix needs attention, you hear about it here.
Three rounds, same as a mix.
Approve, and it moves to delivery.
Everything you need to release.
24-bit WAV masters at delivery rate, MP3 references, ISRC and metadata embedded if you supply them.
Send the session.
Files, notes and payment in one place. Free account to upload.
A short form — what the project is, how many songs, a link to hear it. Personal reply within one business day.
For questions about project scope, label and sync work, or anything that isn't a session yet.
